ASK Me Application

ASK Me is an exciting MSA and TeamMONASH initiative which provides leadership and training opportunities for students as well as providing easy access for students to seek support from a peer.

The key aims of the ASK Me program are to assist students so that they:

  • Feel engaged and supported while at Monash
  • Enhance their wellbeing and decrease stress levels
  • Are encouraged to be involved in the wider Monash community

Why be a ASK Me volunteer?

ASK Me will provide leadership and training opportunities for young students as well as encouraging students, who do not engage with student services, to seek support from a peer. This project will enhance student wellbeing and increase community and academic engagement.

As a ASK Me Program volunteer you can receive:

  • Free T-shirt & hoodie
  • Certificate III in active volunteering
  • Training session including grievance and communication skills training
  • Leadership experience
  • Interact with new people on a daily basis and make new friends

STEP 1

Become an MSA Volunteer

STEP 2

Apply to take a ASK Me for 2017

  • Apply Here
  • You must have a Working With Childrens Check (WWC) to volunteer as part of the ASK Me Program. Please apply for a WWC as soon as possible.

The Training

STEP 3

Complete Pre – Online Training

  • The moodle uni consists of a number of short videos covering different services across all campuses. Please complete all relevant units via the link below, before the in person training session.

Additional Online Training Units & Certified Training

Leap Into Leadership Online Units (LILO)

All Ask Me volunteers are expected to complete the following online unit:

  • Strategic Thinking: Solving Complex Problems
  • Communicate with Impact
  • High Performance Teams: Work & Win Together

All units will provide you with a certificate at completion

Monash Training and Professional Development (MTPD)

If you have not completed an undergraduate degree, you are eligible to complete a Certificate III in Active Volunteering and/or Certificate IV in Frontline Management.

STEP 4

Attend face to face training

  • Attend one training session and grab your T-Shirt and Hoodie.
  • Download the 2017 ASK Me Calendar for details.

Log Your Host year Encounters

  • After each encounter with a student, jump online and log the details to receive 3 Volunteer Reward Points per encounter.
  • Save the link to your phone’s home screen and log them when they happen, or within 24 hours.
