Collections and Loans

The aim of the Recreational Library is to build collections based on students’ interests. We take a lot of book recommendations and monitor all feedback and popular loans.

  • Books: We maintain a diverse collection including fiction, sci-fi, cook books, graphic novels, travel guides, poetry, popular non-fic, romance, humour, and biography. Our recently-expanded LOTE collection includes Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, French, and Spanish. Not sure what to read next? Check out recommendations on the library blog, or some of the newest items on our search catalogue.
  • Subscriptions: The library holds subscriptions to 50+ magazines, comics, and manga titles; and houses a graphic novel collection with both current and classic trade paperbacks.
  • Multimedia: our collection includes DVDs, TV Series and CDs, as well as 2000+ LPs to enjoy on our vintage turntables – Classical, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Musicals, Comedy, and more.
  • Games: The TV and games lounge is home to a widescreen TV, Nintendo Wii U gaming, and puzzle & board games collection. We also have a craft corner so you can get out your creative side!
  • Online: You can access e-books and audiobooks over at our digital media catalogue.
  • Gadgets: We also have a gadget library – basically ‘useful stuff’: stationery, paper-cutters, phone-chargers, spare headphones, umbrellas.
