Internships and Work Experience

MSA Internships & Department Experience is an MSA initiative that provides students an opportunity to enhance their academic and life skills and provide a greater understanding of career options. The Work Placement and Internship Program is open to students who are completing a Monash University placement unit.

The Work Placement and Internship Program provides a hands-on practical experience for highly-motivated Monash students. The Work Placement and Internship Program will offer guidance and provide realistic appraisal of strengths and weaknesses relative to the department and industry standard. This invaluable experience allows Monash students to train with industry professionals and work within their area of interest.

Aim of the MSA Work Placement and Internship Program

The MSA Work Placement and Internship Program endeavours to provide professional work experience to Monash students before completing their University degrees.

The MSA would like to not only provide an opportunity for students to learn, but to also take this opportunity to learn from Monash students. Students will be given the chance to work under MSA Staff as an intern member of the MSA workplace.

Students will provide valuable support to their relevant MSA Department and will be given the opportunity to use their course acquired skills and knowledge to produce constructive results. This hands-on-learning experience advances student resumes and helps give clarity to potential career pathways.

MSA Department Experience

The MSA Department Experience provides all students, who are not completing a Monash University placement unit, an opportunity to volunteer within an MSA department. This voluntary experience will provide a greater understanding of career options.

Students can choose their tasks and can alter the length of their program at any time. As this is a voluntary position the MSA may terminate the engagement at its absolute discretion if the Volunteer fails to comply with the provisions of MSA's Volunteer Policy, the Volunteer Agreement, any relevant legislation or any MSA or Monash University policies and procedures which apply during the engagement as a volunteer.
