Student Information Collection Statement
Monash Student Association (Clayton) Inc. is committed to protecting the privacy and security of personal information obtained from individuals, including students and their families. In accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), this statement outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and store personal information provided to us.
Collection of Personal Information:
We collect personal information directly from students and their families, or from other parties with consent, for the primary purpose of enhancing student experience. This may include but is not limited to, information such as name, date of birth, address, contact details, academic records, health information, financial and personal circumstance, and emergency contact details.
Use of Personal Information:
Personal information collected is used for the primary purpose of facilitating educational services, including but not limited to enrollment, academic administration, communication with students and families, and ensuring the health and safety of students. We may also use personal information for secondary purposes such as marketing and fundraising activities, where consent has been obtained or as otherwise permitted by law.
Disclosure of Personal Information:
We may disclose personal information to third parties including government agencies, educational institutions, affiliated clubs and societies, service providers, and legal authorities where necessary and appropriate for the provision of services, compliance with legal obligations, or with consent from the individual concerned.
Security and Storage of Personal Information:
We take reasonable steps to ensure the security and confidentiality of personal information to prevent unauthorised access, use, or disclosure. Personal information is stored securely in electronic and/or physical formats, and access is restricted to authorised personnel only.
Access and Correction of Personal Information:
Individuals have the right to access and request correction of their personal information held by Monash Student Association (Clayton) Inc. Requests for access or correction should be made in writing to the Privacy Officer, and we will respond in accordance with the APPs.
